Tea with Flidais

I made a big cup of Christmas Tree tea and poured some into a smaller cup as an offering to Flidais. Unfortunately I made a mess  while pouring the tea, a pre-devotional embarrassment. None the less, I sat down at the altar and began sipping the tea as if she were sipping it with me. I started to talk, in my awkward way which is the usual way I talk when conversing with one of the Gods. I also offered her some myrrh incense that my prayers will rise with the smoke, something I learned from my Native American elders long ago.

The conversation was not one sided! I heard Fildais speak back, giving me advice on interacting with the Fairy Folk. She confirmed what the Dedicant List was saying about saying “Thank You” to Nature Spirits. Though some Fey truly do not enjoy being openly thanked, and its good to use your intuition when it comes to this. I tend to say something like this “I would like to express my gratitude for your assistance. May it be upon you.”

I am glad I took the time for the little tea exchange. Not a devotional in the ADF style, I was simply doing what felt natural to me.

Tomorrow I will be celebrating Brigid and will do the devotionals in the Dedicant Path manual. I just have to figure out where I put it! Brigid is a special deity to me, though I have not worked with her much. I am looking forward to speaking with her tomorrow and honoring her properly.
